Pat Severs
Pat Severs is a well-respected and accomplished professional steel guitar player in the Nashville Tennesse area. I don't know where to start.
I've only had this steel for three days, and I can't imagine ever playing anything else ever again. When I first played it at Bobbe's shop, I knew right away it was a great steel. When I brought it home and tried it with my amp and studio gear, I was blown away.
The real test was yesterday when I took it to a session for the first time. As soon as the engineer brought the steel up in the phones, I knew it was going to be a good day! That rich, clear tone I heard at Bobbe's and at home was coming through my headphones, with no added EQ or compression, just a little delay and reverb. The clear definition of notes is the best I've ever heard. You can play a triad anywhere on the neck, move one note inside the triad with a lever or pedal, and it doesn't change the tone or sustain of the other notes at all! Amazing!
I didn't plan to ramble on like this, but I haven't been this excited about a steel in years. I'm using the Magnum tomorrow on a session at SMS Productions, and Sunday I'm doing a steel guitar demonstration and show at the Country Music Hall of Fame, so I'll have a great chance to show off my cool new steel! We start working on the new season of Nashville Star next week. I wasn't able to do last season,so I'm really looking forward to getting back on the show with my new steel. We'll be on the set on Mar.4th, so I'll get those pics to you soon. I can't play my "Brand X" double neck anymore. I'm spoiled!
I do want the players out there to know that my new Magnum is not a "custom" guitar. It was bought off the floor of Steel Guitar Nashville, and no matter where they buy a Magnum, it will be the same pro quality steel they're seeing the pro players use. Talk to you soon!
